Unseen sights

Unseen sights

Oh. My. God. A sight to die for.

This amazing picture was not taken from space… it was taken here on Earth. To quote The Guardian, “The Milky Way as seen in the Mardi Khola valley in the Himalayas, with clouds of galactic dust illuminated in red by young stars. Anton Jankovoy braved freezing temperatures for this shot during a trek in Nepal.”

For some reason, this photo reminds me of the “Tears in Rain” soliloquy from the classic sci-fi movie “Blade Runner” (see Wikipedia for backstory: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears_in_rain_soliloquy )

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhäuser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. [pause]
Time to die.”
